Camp Sunbird Teens – for participants in sec 1 and 2
The two secondary writing camps emphasise both critical and creative thinking through a series of enjoyable activities each day. Whether you’re tapping out a tantalising travel article, writing a riveting news report, mulling over a meaty microfiction or threading together a three-word trialogue, participants will be challenged to loftier linguistic heights, achieving more impactful word choice and usage. “Is this the best word to use?”, “How can I make this sentence more impactful?", “What is the best way to deliver my message so that it's interesting and will make people sit up and pay attention?” We want powerful words, inspiring words, beautiful words! The two secondary writing camps, “Creative Writing” and “Writing Non-Fiction” are designed to directly complement each other. Attending both gives you the best mix of our fiction and non-fiction writing experience. Attending either camp will open your mind to the beauty and power of every. single. word.

Camp Sunbird Kids – for kids in primary 3 to 6
Full Day Camp: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Drama, script-writing, poetry writing and puppetry are aspects of the language arts less often experienced in primary school. At school, the emphasis can sometimes be very focused on grammar drills and vocabulary learning. This camp is for kids who want to let their imaginations and ideas flow, try out funny dialogues and make up rhymes. It is for kids who want to write a poem and shout it out, imagine a fantastical story and act it out, make a puppet come alive with its own voice and personality. Along the way, we’ll learn to write prose and poetry together, develop presentation skills, build up our confidence to speak in front of an audience, and collaborate to create something new and exciting to show mum and dad!

We are living in an age where people spend much of their time reading and writing online. Whatsapp, FaceBook, Instant Messaging, Blogs and other online platforms are speeding up the rate at which we read and write. Sometimes, this results in impulse-driven responses and sloppy, informal writing. It is important that we can switch register and write formally and thoughtfully when necessary.
Our Core Beliefs and Goals:
We seek to maximise the potential of talented young writers through inductive, concept-based, values-driven learning.
Camp Sunbird builds on and extends the MOE Language and Literature curricula as well as the Character and Citizenship Education curriculum. Developed by a gifted education curriculum specialist, the Sunbird curriculum is enriched for those who want to go further. The skills of creative writing, drama, poetry writing and performance are led by none other than the founders of Poetry Slam and Word Forward, Singapore. At Camp Sunbird, our campers will learn from carefully selected professionals who practice in the field and are also educators at heart. We welcome you to take flight on a language arts adventure with us!
